Capacity Building Programs for Teaching Held at DAV Public School

Amritsar, Apr. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Under the aegis of DAV CAE Regional Training Centre (Amritsar, Zone ) under DAV Centre of Academic Excellence , DAV , CMC , New Delhi and CBSE’s directive ,Capacity Building Programs for Teaching was organised at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar. The Orientation Cum Interactive Meet was held for Seven Subjects i.e. English , Maths , Chemistry, History , Geography , Political Science and Punjabi for Std XI and XII with the aim to bring a qualitative improvement in the teaching – learning process with the objective of enhancing learner achievement.


As many as 31 teachers from GND DAV Public School, Bhikhiwind , MKD DAV Public School, Attari, DAV International school, Police DAV School, DAV Public School participated in the workshop according to their subject. Regional Director (Amritsar Zone ) Dr.(Mrs.)Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar inaugurated the workshops and said that she was happy to see eager teachers as a teacher must always grow and upgrade himself to deal with changing trends in education.


Supervisor Publication Mrs.Pratibha Panghal , MrsArpana Nayyar, Mr.Pawan Khurana, Supervisor Arts Stream Mrs.Neelam Singh, Mr. Arun Kumar , Mrs.Inderjit Sandhu and Mrs.Parminder Hundal were the Resource Persons for English, Maths, Chemistry, History , Geography , Political Science and Punjabi respectively. During the workshop the detailed syllabus for the first term (SA1) along with its length and content was discussed. The resource persons emphasised on the importance of adopting different techniques for motivating and helping students to comprehend their content and reproduce it in a creative and correct form in the exam to score well. The resource persons touched the difficult learning areas in their subject and shared their expert and innovative methodology adopted by them over the years to make the difficult areas interesting and easy to comprehend.


The resource persons took the queries of the participating teachers and distributed hand – outs and other important instructions to help the teachers deal with problem areas. Mrs. Pratibha Panghal showed the various groups in the Social Media created by her to accentuate the importance of using technology and popular modes of communication in Education. Mrs Neelam Singh discussed a detailed topic wise strategy to deal with different topics in history. Mrs .Arpana stressed on making teaching of Maths a fun subject for the students. Mr. Pawan Khurana emphasised on making teaching of chemistry as a practical way through daily examples. Mr. Arun Kumar said that field trips and excursions can enhance the interest of students in Geography and make them interested in the topic along with other classroom techniques. Mrs. Inderjit Sandhu said that the teachers must make the students realise the importance of current events and connect these events with the class room lesson to build their interest. Mrs. Parminder Hundal asked the teachers to know the intricacies of all topics and come to the level of the students to teach them and also teach from easy to difficult topic. The workshop for all the subjects was a success as many new ideas and innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning process were developed.


Regional Director ( Amritsar Zone ) Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road, Amritsar motivated the teachers through a chapter from Sh. Vivekananda’s life. She applauded the efforts of the school for organising the workshop. She added that such workshops are very important in keeping the teachers abreast with the latest trends in education. Dr.Neera Sharma Principal of the school , thanked the resources persons and all the participants for being a part of the workshop. She said , “Learning is a continuous process and as teachers we need to upgrade ourselves regularly”.
