Bareta/Bhikhi, Mansa: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal today said that the Congress party would taste crushing defeat in the 2017 assembly polls. He claimed that the Congress party would be wiped out from the political scene.
In a statement issued today Sukhbir Badal also said that Congress did nothing for the welfare of Punjab and didn’t brought even a single project to the state which should be worth remembering.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that “people of Punjab would not come in the sugar coated talk of Captain Amarinder Singh owing to the anti-people policies of the Congress”.
Notably, assembly election are due in 2017 in Punjab. Ruling SAD (Badal) is facing two terms strong anti-incumbency. Congress party is levelling low in Punjab too, given it’s downfall throughout the Indian subcontinent. Aam Aadmi Party is a going to contest state assembly polls for the first time in Punjab but still its considered to be one of the main contenders. AAP had a surprise opening in Punjab politics during 2014 Lok Sabha polls by winning four parliament seats. AAP’s splinter groups have also formed two groups – one led by Patiala MP Dharamvir Gandhi and another led by former AAP state convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur. Chhotepur has recently announced to join hands with Gandhi to contest state assembly elections in coalition. Former BJP leader Navjot Sidhu, independent Ludhiana MLAs and former SAD (Badal) MLA Pargat Singh has formed another front but Navjot Sidhu had expressed his willingness to contest polls in coalition with either AAP or Congress so that the anti-incumbency votes do not get divided.
