Amritsar: In a written statement issued today, the Dal Khalsa asked Captain Amrinder Singh to join prayers at any of the historic gurdwara in memory of those who lost lives in the deadly attack on Darbar Sahib and 37 others gurdwaras in June 1984.
Party leader Satnam Singh said Captain Amrinder Singh resigned from Congress in protest against operation Blue Star. He must visit gurdwara on June 6 and join Ardas Samgam being organized by the SGPC at historic gurdwaras across the state.
“I am saying this to Captain in his personal capacity as a Sikh and not as a representative of the state or a Congressman. Lets hope that Amrinder Singh has not changed with the times and his heart and emotions against Darbar Sahib attack remained the same”, said he.

On SAD (Amritsar) showing disagreement with theirs Amritsar bandh call, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said differences of perception and thoughts among Panthic groups was an open secret. The call has been given by ours group and airing differences by any faction in public would set bad precedent. Had Simranjit Singh Mann talked with us in person before we announced it in public, we would have explained to him our point of view in giving the bandh call.
Reiterating theirs group’s shutdown call on June 6, he said from last four consecutive years the people of the holy city were fully responding to the appeal. We never forced any one to close his shop nor do we believe in imposing ours beliefs on others. “Ours has always been peaceful bandh and we appeal to all those who were criticizing us should not do so for the sake of criticism. “We appeal to our critics not to make the issue out of non-issue. Putting end to all apprehensions, he said shutting business establishments won’t make any effect on public visiting Darbar Sahib as transportation won’t be disturbed.
