Chandigarh: The Institute of Sikh Studies is going to hold its annual seminar on December 2-3, 2017 at the institute premises at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Kanthala, Opp Tribune Chowk, Indl. Area, Phase I, Chandigarh.
The theme of the Seminar is: “Minorities issues and Challenges – Creating awareness about present day majoritarian intolerance and attempts at Minorities exclusion and assimilation in India“. The seminar would also focus on identifying areas of Sikh vulnerability and Sikh survival strategies.
Prof Kulwant Singh, President of the Institute said that distinguished scholars from various communities will present their papers during the four sessions of the Seminar on these two days.
A release by Institute of Sikh Studies reveals that those attending the seminar include Dr Apoorva Nand of Delhi University, Dr Khalid Mohd of Panjab University, Prof Kulwant Singh, President, IOSS, Dr Dharam Singh (Prof Sikh Studies, retd) of Punjabi University, Patiala, S Bir Devinder Singh (Ex-Deputy Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha), Dr Kehar Singh, Dr Gurbhajan Singh Gill of Ludhiana, Dr Akshay Kumar, Panjab University, Dr Rana Nayyar, Panjab University, Dr Jagmohan Singh Gill of Calcutta, S Nanak Singh Nishtar of Hydrabad.
While Dr Swaraj Singh will preside over the first session, some other scholars will be the guests of Honour during those sessions. The three new publications of the Institute namely: The 2nd edition of English translation of Sri Gur Panth Parkash by Prof Kulwant Singh. 2. Gurdwara Concept and Institution by Dr Gurdev Singh Sangha, Toronto (Canada) and 3. Know your Heritage – Introductory Essays on the 10 Sikh classics will be released on the occasion in the first session of the Seminar.
A detailed programme regarding the papers and the timings and divisions of papers in the Seminar sessions is expected to be released in coming days.
