Allow Sikhs To Wear ‘Kakkars’ During NEET Examination Says SGPC to CBSE

Amritsar: As per the media reports available the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Prof kirpal Singh Badungar has written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) chairman Rakesh Kumar Chaturvedi to ensure the Sikh candidates face no harassment in respect of their ‘kakars’ (Sikh articles of faith) while appearing in examination of National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).

The exam is scheduled to take place on 7th May 2017 Sunday, in 103 cities across the country. Keeping in view of the fact that the “Amritdhari” (baptised) Sikh candidates who wore “kara” (iron bracelet) and “kirpan” (dagger) were disallowed to sit in the examination last year, the Sikh body has taken up the issue with CBSE which conduct this, in advance.
