Chandigarh: Breaking his silence over the alleged torture on a British national Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi who is made an accused in target killing case, the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday rejected the allegations as “baseless”, and reportedly said that the British citizen was not tortured by the Punjab Police.
The case of Scottish-born Jagtar Singh Johal was raised in the House of Commons yesterday following reports of his alleged torture in custody.
While interacting with the media the CM maintained that due process of law was being followed in the case. “The accused was not tortured,” he further claimed, adding that no unlawful method would be adopted during interrogation, notes The Tribune (TT).
