Mohali/ Ludhiana: The National Investigation Agency (NIA), top most investigating agency of the Indian government, took over the physical custody of Ramandeep Singh Chuharwal and Hardeep Singh Shera on Wednessday (Nov. 22).
The NIA team, led by Chief Investigation officer S. P. Atul Goyal had secured an order from Special NIA court Mohali to overtake the physical custody of Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera from the Punjab police.
Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told Sikh Siyasat News that Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera in the cutody of Ludhiana police under FIR No. 442/2017 u/s 302, 34 IPC and 25, 27 of Arms (PS Basti Jodhewal) registered in relation of killing of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain on October 17, 2017. Their police remand was to expire today but meanwhile the NIA team took over their physical custody as per NIA court’s directives and they were taken to Mohali in order to be presented before the NIA court.

It is learnt from the sources that they were presented before the Special NIA court of Ansul Beri (ASJ1, Mohali) and their were sent under the custody of NIA on remand for 5 days.
It is notable that the National Investigation Agency, New Delhi has re-registered case FIR No. 442/2017 dated 17.10.2017 under sections 10, 12, and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, sections 302 & 34 of the Indian Penal Code and section 25 of the Arms Act, 1925, at PS Jodhewal, Ludhiana, Punjab as NIA case RC-18/2017/NIA/DLI, on 16.11.2017.
A press release by NIA dated 17/11/2017 states the background of the case as: “Background of the case is that on 17.10.2017 morning, two unidentified persons killed Shri Ravinder Gosain, Chief of Raghunathnagar Shakha of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Ludhiana, while he was sitting outside his house at Gagandeep colony, Ludhiana“.
