Chandigarh: A one-member Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, probing the irreverent incident, has summoned Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee president Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar for induction into the investigation. It may be recalled that two Sikhs were killed due to a firing by police force at Bahal Kalan on the Sangat, who expressed their peaceful protest after the beadbi incident of the Guru Granth Sahib at Bargani village in Faridkot district in October 2015.

According to media reports, the commission asked the SGPC president to appear on or before October 9 itself or through his representative. The commission has asked them to bring all records related to the mercy of the Dera Sauda Sirsa chief and to withdraw the decision to apologize.
According to the news of the English newspaper Indian Express, the commission, apologizing and apology withdrawal within a week in 2015 will help in investigating this matter.
It is notable that in 2007, the controversial Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim had insulted Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s ambrosia, and the Sikh Gurus were insulted. After this incident, the Hukamnama was issued against the Ram Rahim of Dera Sirsa from Akal Takht. In September 2015, the Jathedars appointed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee had pardoned Gurmeet Ram Rahim which was opposed by the Sikh sangats and the SGPC gave newspaper advertisements worth Rs 90 lakh to promote this ‘pardon’. But after the wrath of the Sikh sangat, the Jathedars appointed by the Shiromani Committee had rejected ‘forgiveness’.
The previous Badal government had set up a commission under the leadership of retired judge Zora Singh who failed to identify the culprits of killing two Sikhs with the help of a police bullet in Bahial Kalan. Report of Zora Singh Commission rejected by Congress-led Captain Amarinder Singh government and created a new commission under the leadership of Justice Ranjit Singh for the investigation of this matter. In connection with this incident, the independent people commission was created by former Supreme Court Justice Markandey Katju and various human rights organizations. Justice Katju had blamed Punjab Punjab for the firing of Bahal Kala but the Punjab government had refused to accept this report.
