Sikhs In USA Assisting Hurricane Harvey Survivors In Texas

Houston: It is been learned that Sikhs in United States of America (USA) have opened Gurdwara’s and have begun Sewa (voluntary service) for the hurricane Harvey ravaged Houstonians who are left without food and shelter after losing their homes and cars. Hurricane Harvey is reportedly the worst hurricane to have hit the US mainland in 13 years.

“American government and state agencies are doing their best to help the flood ravaged people in Texas but at the same time Sikhs in America are making necessary supplies to the flood victims” said coordinator American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee ( AGPC) Pritpal Singh while interacting with the media.

He informed that thousands of houses in the low lying coastal areas of Houston had submerged and people were in dire need of daily supplies to survive.

“Texas and other US based Sikh bodies have come forward to help the fellow Americans who deserved attention . “Gurdwara’s were sending help in both cash and kind” he adds.

Currently, necessary items such as eatables, toiletries, disinfectants, fruits, flashlights, portable chargers, tissues etc are being supplied to the survivors of  Hurricane Harvey. Further an appeal to donate generously has been made to  the Sikhs residing across USA.

Taranveer Singh a residence of New York while talking with Times of India (ToI) stated that he along with his friends had reached Houston to help the flood victims. He informed that they had come with essential supplies and had joined other Sikh organizations helping hurricane victims.
