Mohali/ Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India today took police remand of Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi in a case for 6 days today.
The NIA acted quietly and presented Jagtar Singh Jaggi before the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Sanjay Agnihotri as special NIA judge ASJ-I Anshul Berry was on leave. The court sent Jagtar Singh Jaggi on police remand till January 22, 2018.
It is also learnt that Jagtar Singh Jaggi’s lawyer/s could not make any legal representation on his behalf before the court today.
While talking to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Jagtar Singh Jaggi’s legal counsel Advocate Jaspal Singh confirmed that the NIA took police remand of Jagtar Singh Jaggi without his knowledge.
“The NIA did not intimate me and I later came to know that the NIA has taken police remand of Jagtar Singh Jaggi from a court in Mohali. There was no chance for us to make any legal representation on behalf of Jagtar Singh Jaggi as we were not even aware that NIA has taken him out of Nabha Jail and he was presented before an Additional Sessions judge in Mohali”, Advo. Jaspal Singh Manjhpur told SSN.
The details of the case in which the NIA has taken police remand of Jagtar Singh Jaggi were not known at the time of writing this news.
Jagtar Singh Jaggi is a Scottish citizen who had come to Panjab to get merried and he was arrested by the Punjab police from Jalandhar on November 4. After which he is booked in various cases in Punjab and later the investigation in those cases was handed over to the NIA.
