Amritsar/ Sangrur: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has constituted a probe panel to look into the issue of a building being built at Mastuana Sahib in Sangrur which is lookalike of the Darbar Sahib (Amritsar).
In 2009, the Akal Takht Sahib had directed the SGPC to get altered the design of the building, situated on the premises of Gurdwara Sachkhand Angitha Sahib.
Parshotam Singh Phaguwala, state general secretary of the United Akali Dal, sat on an indefinite fast outside Gurdwara Patshahi Nauvin Sahib at Bhawanigarh, demanding the implementation of Akal Takht’s directions.
After which the SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal has announced a four-member committee, comprising SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjouli, executive member Harinder Singh Rogla, Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan, and Malkit Singh Changal, had been constituted.
The Gurdwara Nankiana Sahib, Sangrur, manager will coordinate with the committee.
SGPC chief has appealed to Parshotam Singh Phaguwala to end his fast.
“No other gurdwara can be designed on the pattern of the Golden Temple. The committee will visit the spot and submit a report. Action will be taken accordingly”, SGPC chief said.
The SGPC had sent a team to inspect the building in 2015 after Parshotam Singh Phaguwala had climbed on a water tank in Bhawanigarh demanding implementation of Akal Takht directive. They would prepare a report on changes to be made the structure of concerned Gurdwara Sahib. The issue was later put in cold bag.
