Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court reportedly granted regular bail to Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal, who was declared as Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Jathedar during November 10 (2015) Sarbat Khalsa.

In his bail plea, heard by Justice MMS Bedi’s bench, Bhai Daduwal had sought regular bail in a case of alleged sedition and other offences registered under sections 124-A, 153-A, 153-B, 115, 117 and 120-B of the IPC, besides Section 13 of the Unlawful Act and 66-F of the IT Act.

It may be recalled that the case was registered on Nov. 12 last year at Chattiwind police Station.

Bhai Daduwal’s counsel Gurvinder Singh Sidhu maintained that the petitioner was falsely implicated in this case.

Taking up the matter on a previous date of hearing, Justice Bedi had observed that the contents of the speech were not available on the police file.

Bhai Daduwal is expected to be released from jail in coming days, but there are apprehensions that he may be rearrested by the police. Earlier the police had arrested United Akali Dal (UAD) chief Bhai Mohkam Singh in another case after he was granted bail in (PS Chattiwind) sedition case.
